The Idiopathic short stature test is based on the Whole Genome Sequencing Test. As such, it analyses all Common and Rare Variants associated with Idiopathic short stature instead of a limited set of genes. Idiopathic short stature (ISS) refers to a short stature that does not have a diagnostic explanation (idiopathic designates a condition that is unexplained or not understood) after an ordinary growth evaluation. A short stature may occur due to a wide range of reasons, such as having small parents, malnutrition, and genetic conditions. If a short stature results from a growth hormone (GH) deficiency, GH treatment can often boost growth. The most common cause of short stature is having parents whose height is below average, but around 5% of children with short stature have a medical condition. Medical conditions that can underlie short stature include: malnutrition due to either a disease or lack of nutrients, hypothyroidism that leads to a lack of growth hormone, or a tumor in the pituitary gland

Using a simple at home blood sample, we can collect the 100% of your DNA and analyze the genetic sequence in our lab.

  • 2.

The sequence is divided into several parts, amplified, grouped in clusters and then sequenced.

  • 3.

This sequencing process reveals the order of nucleotides that make up the original DNA sample.

  • 4.

We then compare the genome with a generic and globally recognized reference DNA sequence.
